On Election Eve, it's not too late to volunteer!
It’s now less than 12 hours before the first polls open for the 2018 Midterm Election. Have you already voted? Do you have a plan for tomorrow? Are you not able to vote this election? If you answered yes to any of these questions, there are still ways you can make an impact!
As voters across the country are gearing up to vote tomorrow, many still need to make a plan to vote and get informed on the issues and candidates. Text-banking is an easy and straightforward way for you to help these voters right now!
In many cases, all you need is a little bit of time tonight and your phone or laptop.
If you’re feeling eager to volunteer, start with a quick search for text-banking websites. When We All Vote offers a nonpartisan text-banking service! For whichever site you decide to use, you will have to go through a sign-up and training process. Like learning any new skill, starting to text-bank can be a little cumbersome at first. If you’ve ever gone to a training before an in-person canvass, you’ll know that it takes some time to get prepared before you start knocking on doors. Be patient and don’t get intimidated! Within 15-20 minutes, you’ll be all set.
Now the fun part! Once you get into the text-banking platform, you’ll find that reaching out to voters has never been easier. Within minutes you can send out hundreds of texts. You may not hear back from many, and you may receive negative replies, but the positive responses make it all worthwhile. Many voters might not have thought of how they plan to get to the polls or what time their polling place is open. Some voters might not have had time to research the candidates or issues. YOU can help change that.
Midterms are known for their low turnout, but it doesn’t have to be that way. I challenge you to send out 500 texts by midday tomorrow! Some elections are decided by the tiniest margins, and your efforts tonight and tomorrow morning can make a difference.
What are you waiting for? Go send some texts!
