Our Work
The Civics Center provides free training and resources to help make voter registration part of the fabric of the high school experience in America: an exciting part of growing up, a fun thing to engage in, and readily available twice a year.
The Civics Center provides:
Free training to run voter registration drives in school
Free “Democracy in a Box” toolkit to help run a drive
District level data to identify areas of need and show results
We train students and educators
across the country.
We marry the school calendar to the election cycle.
The Civics Center provides free training and easy-to-use resources that enable students, educators, and partners to run twice-yearly voter registration drives in high schools. In the Fall, High School Voter Registration Week aligns with state registration deadlines in advance of Election Day. In the Spring, Cap, Gown & Ballot encourages seniors to register before they graduate in the spring.
We partner with local organizations, educators, and students in our target districts to hold “huddles.”
On this day of action, teens gather from multiple schools for a day of activation, learning, and preparation for student-led/adult supported drives.
We uncover registration data.
We are creating code that allows us to see how many 16-18 year olds live in a county and what percentage of them are registered. We measure voter registration and turnout rates, the rates of preregistration and we publish rankings and track changes over time. This helps us target our outreach, and helps your community see where progress can be made.
